MFT Sketch 404 - You're FAB-BOO-LOUS

Today I have a fun Halloween card that I made for an eight year old boy.  This week's MFT sketch lends itself to a good format for a maze game type of card.

I used the MFT Fab-BOO-lous Friends stamp and die set for the main images, and the cloud stencil to create a background piece.  All of the MFT supplies I used are listed below.

Thanks very much for taking a closer look at my card, and have a fabulous day!

MFT Sketch 403 & Color 101 - Hello There

Hello there, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card for the current MFT sketch and color challenges.

Summer Splash, Tropical Teal, Wild Cherry and Coral Crush is a pretty combination for the color challenge.  I used MFT Summer Splash and Cherry Crisp card stock, Copic markers to add some teal and coral, and gray and black as my neutrals.

Two sizes of Copic colored blooms from the MFT Sketchy Flowers set made a quick and easy focal point for my card based on the sketch challenge.  I added some white dots to the blooms, and few pieces of clear confetti for a bit of sparkle.

MFTStamps 2018 Card Design Superstar - Clean & Simple Genius

Since the launch of the 2018 Card Design Superstar challenge, I've been away from my craft desk a good bit, but I did have time to make a Clean & Simple Genius category entry.  The MFT contest  post with all the rules can be seen here.

CAS cards truly are a challenge for me.  I always want to add one more thing.  I love the look of them when other people make them, but for some reason I often think mine look incomplete.  Having said that, I feel good about the CAS card I made for this challenge, and it's another card ready to donate to Send A Smile 4 Kids too.

The largest die from the Pierced Star STAX set was used to cut three stars, one white and two Elf Green.  The stars were glued and stacked with the white one on top, and then adhered to a piece of white card stock that was die cut with the largest A2 Rectangle STAX die.  Another piece of Elf Green card stock was cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches and was adhered to the back of the slightly smaller white panel.

The cute little jumping Santa from the Jingle All the Way set was stamped and colored with Copic markers.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the fur trim on Santa's hat, then Santa was die cut and adhered to the star.  The sentiment was stamped and clear heat embossed.  The small metallic silver embellishment stars were cut with the star die from the Circle Shaker Window and Frame set.

Thanks very much for stopping by to take a closer look at my card.  And good luck to all of the other card makers that participated this year.  There are so many inspiring and beautiful entries!

MFT Sketch 402 - Boo!

For this week's MFT sketch, I made a Halloween card for a little boy, Jackson.  I think the MFT Super Boy is perfect for him as he has several serious and chronic health issues that he faces everyday.  He' a great little guy, and I want to wish him a very happy Halloween.

The Super Boy is colored with Copic markers, and all products are MFT except the little "Boo!" bag which I decided to use in place of the sentiment strip on the sketch, and the grass boarder die.

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a look at my card.  I hope you have a super day!

MFT Sketch 400 - Ho Ho Ho

My idea for this week's MFT sketch challenge card came to me fairly easily, and it was quick and simple to make.  It's not a layout that I would have come up with on my own, and that's what I like about the sketch challenges.

I took a bit of liberty with the sketch and placed the stripes with a diagonal bottom edge since I thought that orientation looked good with the jumping Santa from the MFT Jingle All the Way set.

I started making holiday cards to donate to Send a Smile 4 Kids and Cards for Little Hearts the first week of July.  This card is number 60, and no two are exactly alike.  I think this one will be nice for an older, teenage child.

Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card, and have a great day!

For the current MFT Color Challenge using Blue Yonder, Blue Breeze, Kraft and Persimmon, I made another holiday card to donate to Send a Smile 4 Kids.  I used Copic markers R05 and R14 for the Persimmon since it's the only color card stock I didn't have on hand.

The cute little girl sledding is MFT Dashing By.  The die cut snowman and trees are from the MFT Scenic Snow Globe set.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

Thanks very much for stopping by!

Today I have another card to donate to Christina Hor's Cards for Little Hearts winter card drive.

Recently I colored several images from the MFT Toasty Greetings set. Today I made seven cards with them, each one a bit different, but  two are suitable for this week's sketch challenge.

The images are colored with Copic markers, and Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents were added for some detail.  All of the MFT supplies are listed below.

MFT Color Challenge 99 - Happy Halloween

The colors for this challenge are perfect for a couple more Halloween cards for Send a Smile For Kids.  Instead of Latte, I used Biscotti.   Instead of Cement, I used Gravel Gray.  For Persimmon, a sheet of Calm & Cozy Chevron 6x6 paper worked along with a R05 Copic marker.  The black card stock is from my stash.

Both of the maze cards I made are shown below, but I just entered one.  I think these maze cards are fun for kids who are spending Halloween in one of the hospitals around the country that SAS4Kids supports.

Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my card!

MFT Sketch 397 - Merry Everything

Hello, and thanks for stopping by.

I'm making good progress this week on Christmas cards to donate to Send a Smile for Kids and Cards for Little Hearts.   On Monday I used Copic markers to color enough images from the MFT Santa's Elves set for six cards, and this week's sketch was put to good use to assemble and finish off three cards using slight variations the sketch format on each card.

I always like to make a few holiday cards using unconventional Christmas colors.  I like the look of the olive colored tree on this card, and I think the little elf is so cute dressed in red and gold.  For the white base piece, I used a very old Creative Memories corner rounder punch since I don't have round corner rectangle shaped dies.  A checkerboard pattern was drawn on the bottom package for added detail.  Glossy Accents on the Elf's buttons and Wink of Stella on the bell, star and elf's fur trim finished the card.

Have a great day, and thanks again for taking a closer look at my challenge entry.  Your comments are always appreciated!

MFT Sketch 396 - Dashing By

After spending a few days making Halloween cards to donate to Send a Smile 4 Kids, I've gone back to making winter holiday cards, this one to donate to Cards for Little Hearts.  You can read about their year-round card drives here.

I love the cute MFT Dashing By girl on a sled.  It is easy to color with Copic markers and I've made many cards with it over the past two years.  I used the new to me MFT Snowfall horizontal die for the background and formatted my card to fit this week's MFT sketch challenge.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

MFT Color Challenge 98 - Hello, Bootiful

Hello and thanks for stopping by.

Today I have two more Halloween cards ready to donate to Send a Smile 4 Kids.  The current MFT color challenge presented a perfect combination for some softer, more feminine colored Halloween cards using Lavender Fields, Wild Wisteria, Peach Bellini and Coral Crush.

I used a cute little Copic colored witch from the MFT Fab-Boo-lous Friends set along with several dies, all listed below.  The maze game cards are great for the older kids who unfortunately are spending Halloween as a patient in one of the many children's hospitals scattered around the country that SAS4Kids supports.

Have a bootiful day, and should you care to leave a comment, I'd be delighted!

MFT Sketch 395 - Congrats

My daughter recently made a few background pieces for me after I sent a copy of the Splitcoaststampers  Nail Polish Marbling Tutorial to her.  You can see that tutorial here.  Although my daughter is not a crafter, she was happy to play with her huge assortment of nail polish colors and create several pieces for me.

I had an engagement card on my list of cards to make, and this week's MFT sketch and one of the background pieces were a perfect match.

The 'congrats' is four layers thick with each layer slightly offset for added dimension.  I used MFT Summer Splash, gold glitter card stock from my stash, and two layers of white card stock.  The leaves are die cut from MFT Sno Cone card stock and  vellum.   The banner piece is light blue vellum, also from my stash.  I placed the leaves at an angle rather than the sentiment strip per the sketch.  The gold on the background piece has a soft shimmer to it that doesn't show up in the picture.

I love the way it turned out.  I think it's pretty but not too frilly, and that's always my goal when making engagement, wedding and anniversary cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

MFT Sketch 394 - Ghostly Greetings

After getting a start on Christmas cards last week, I thought I'd step back and make a few Fall and Halloween cards to donate to Send A Smiles 4 Kids.

The cute Fab-BOO-lous Friends set by MFT is perfect for this week's sketch challenge.  The images are super quick and easy to color with Copic markers, and they are just the right size for the four square format of the sketch.

I made four slightly different cards with the set.  I will send them, along with several more Fall theme cards yet to be made, to a SAS4Kids volunteer in Pennsylvania.  She will then forward them to four children's hospitals in the northeast.  It's a great program that I enjoy supporting throughout the year.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a fab-boo-lous day!

AAA Cards CAS Game #119 - Christmas in July

Hi, and thanks for stopping by to take a closer look at my entry for AAA Cards CAS Game #119 - Christmas in July.

This challenge fits perfectly into my card making plans as I started making Christmas cards this month.  I hope to make about 100 cards between now and the end of November to donate to Cards for Little Hearts and Send A Smile 4 Kids.

On to my card.  I used the cute Pamela the Poinsettia stamp by Stampingbella and kept it super CAS by just letting the image shine on it's own along with a MFT Snow Globe Sentiments stamp.   I used Copic markers to color Pamela on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock.

I wish you the merriest of days!

MFT Color Challenge 97 and The Birthday Project - Bears

For the current color and birthday project challenges, I made two bear birthday cards.  The color challenge incorporating Peach Bellini, Coral Crush, Lemon Chiffon and In the Buff is again a combination I wouldn't think of using, but I like the results very much.

I have all the colors of card stock except In the Buff on hand, but I used MFT ink and the complimentary Copic markers instead for both cards.  The "Copic Color Markers" chart in the Resources section of the MFT blog is really helpful for that.

Peach Bellini and In the Buff inks were sponged on white card stock using the MFT Drifts and Hills stencil for the background pieces.  The bears, hats and balloons were colored with Copic markers.  I used Simply White Nuvo Crystal Drops to add tiny dots to the party hats.

Of the two cards, my favorite is the first one below.  Maybe that's because I used the new to me LJD Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Circle Window die for the first time.

I be delighted to know which of the two cards you like the best if you'd care to leave a comment below.

MFT Sketch 393 - Merriest Wishes

For this week's MFT Sketch challenge, I made my first Christmas card this year.  In fact, I used this sketch to make three slightly different Christmas cards.  Every year I donate about 100 holiday cards to three card drives, so I've set a goal to make a few each week from here on out.

For the  background I used the MFT brick wall stencil and Distress Oxide ink.  Some Copic coloring using non-traditional Christmas colors on the MFT Santa's Elves pieces and a sentiment from the Snow Globe Sentiments set, all popped up on foam tape, and that's it.  Quick and easy, and cute too.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

MFT Sketch 391 - Sweet Sloths Happy Birthday

This week's MFT sketch is based on a cover plate die that I don't have, but I captured the sketch fairly literally using what I have on hand.

First I used the MFT Cloud stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to make a background piece.  The squares and oblong piece were cut using the Blueprints 27 divided frame die.  I used Copic markers to color one of the new to me Sweet Sloths.  A few stems of leaves from the Wild Greenery die set and a sentiment from the Birthday Bears stamp set finished my card.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look, and have a great day.

AAA Cards CAS Game 118 - Use a Frame

Game 118 for AAA Cards is all about frames.  The design team's inspiration cards on the AAA Cards blog are so varied and creative.

I decided to make a sympathy card.  They are never easy, and I always have a few on hand ready for when the need arises.  I like to keep sympathy cards very CAS, so this challenge was the perfect opportunity to make one.

The single peony bloom from The Ton's Sending Peonies set is the focal point.  The MFT Rectangle Peek-a-Boo Window has just a bit of detail to frame the flower, and an Altenew Fresh Freesia sentiment finished my card.

Thanks very much for taking a look at my card, and have a great day.

Essentials by Ellen Color Trend "Verdure" Challenge - It's Your Day

The current Color Trend Challenge from Essentials by Ellen showcases the color of the year, Ultra Violet, along with sky blue, several greens and a couple of mustard/golden brown shades.

I got out my Kuretake water colors to use not because I enjoy them, but because I want to improve my water coloring skills.  I find it difficult and frustrating, but I don't want to give up!

The Mondo Sakura stamp designed by Julie Ebersole for EBE is the star of my card, I used it for last month's Color Trend Challenge too.  This time I made a square birthday card using about 3/4 of the image and turned it upside down.   I'm happy with the way it turned out.  The very dear friend I made it for  is always so appreciate of my handmade cards, and I think she will like it too.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look, and I appreciate any comments you care to leave.  Have a great day.
